The Music Theory and Musicology Society (MTMS) at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is pleased to announce its rescheduled student conference “Conversations in Music,” held virtually September 11-12, 2020 (postponed from April 3-4).
The conference will be held in conjunction with the Joseph and Frances Jones Poetker Thinking About Music Lecture Series, featuring keynote speakers Daniel Goldmark (Case Western Reserve University) and Jennifer Beavers (University of Texas at San Antonio). Student presentations will be shared through pre-recorded videos to be viewed before the conference in preparation for the interactive Q&A discussions scheduled during the conference weekend. The conference includes a workshop led by ethnomusicologist Scott Linford (CCM), discussing the application of sound studies in musicology, music theory, and ethnomusicology. All presentations and the workshop are free and open to all registrants.
