The Glenn Korff School of Music in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine & Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a gifted scholar and educator who can enhance the general education and music major course offerings in Popular and/or Global musical traditions at the Glenn Korff School of Music and who displays proficiency with diverse musical traditions, (e.g., African American, Latinx, or Indigenous musics). Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, peer-reviewed research and publications, and professional and university service. Applicants must also be conversant with emerging musicological research and teaching methods and effectively use current pedagogical technologies.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Musicology or Ethnomusicology completed by the first day of employment, i.e., Monday, August 16, 2021. An established and active research agenda. Collegiate teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching and Research expertise in one or more of the following: Music of the African Diaspora, Popular music (especially Rap/Hip Hop), Latinx music, Latin-American music, or Music of Indigenous Peoples. Interdisciplinary experience in Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Performance Studies, Gender Studies, or Sound and Visual Studies also desirable. Secondary research and teaching experience in the European concert tradition also desirable. Experience teaching bibliography and/or research methods courses desirable as is interest in or experience with online instruction. Experience in the mentoring and advising of first-generation students and a diverse student body.
