I have had several laptops crash from overheating. A lot of the online video tools (Teams, Zoom, OBS, etc.) start my laptop fans running. For a quick remedy, I put an ice pack under the laptop.
I feel everyone’s pain — I thought it was just me. Wacom tablet (old, I’ll confess) is not playing well with new system. Fan on laptop seems to go overtime when using a lot of programs. Sounds like the computer is going to take off. Especially with Creative Cloud. Even so, the keyboard and laptop gets really hot.
Also in Photoshop, the keyboard commands occasionally, (NOT consistently), start going completely wonky. For example “deselect” (command-D) will suddenly start making my dock disappear and reappear on the desktop, but have no effect in Photoshop, even though I’m still in Photoshop. Seems completely arbitrary with a number of commands.
Having Word open for any amount of time seems to make things start freezing and crashing.
I’ve traced most of my problems to Creative Cloud, Word (not Excel or PowerPoint), and the Wacom Tablet.
I think we are once again being free Beta testers for all these programs. And/or my computer is trying to gaslight me. In any event, I do NOT need this added frustration right about now.

We have an old laptop that hasn't been updated, even has Adobe CS files on it... so I may be able to rescue my otherwise unreadable disks.

Yikes, everyone. I am in the same boat, and appreciate the thread. Just bought a new computer, first since 2013, and not doing Migration Assistant so it may take forever…. I was certainly hoping not to have 2 computers in the end….

Hi All -
I am beginning to seriously regret upgrading to Catalina on my Mac. I have just discovered that I cannot mount a number of my old disks, and some that I can mount, I cannot open the files... specifically the old .pcd photo disks. They won't open in Photoshop CC, and Catalina won't let me install my old versions of Pshop (CS) which WILL open those files.
I have found a program that apparently will open .pcd files and convert to .psd (pcdMagic for the Mac). There's a free trial, the full program costs $79.
Does anyone know of another solution? I may be able to fire up one of our ancient computers, that I am sure still has Pshop CC on it, but I'm not sure I can then transfer those files.
