The Technical Illustrator & Graphic Artist will:

• Perform a full spectrum of complexities for design and illustration tasks using graphic computer platforms, software applications, related peripheral equipment and traditional board equipment specialized, complex design work for high-level, high-visibility projects for the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) on the Integrated Mission Operations Contract (IMOC) at JSC.
• Act as a technical/conceptual design artist and expert by taking ideas, requirements, and concepts and create visual products for FOD customers. . 
• Coordinate and design visual concepts for special projects with customer.
• Assume a coordinating role for large projects requiring multiple discipline levels.
• Take complex data and create chart graphics with a clear, concise illustration.
• Offer creative design solutions and provide comps and technical sketches manually or electronically.
• Provide finished artwork for a variety of media (documents, presentations, board displays, signage, training products, awards, conference room art displays, etc.).
• Provide fabrication support and development of signs, plaques, and other items for display utilizing fabrication equipment to produce items.
• Cut mattes and display boards using a matte cutting machine and art knives. 
• Interface with customers, management, publications staff, and other contributing personnel to coordinate product needs, develop, and implement and/or coordinate full-cycle production plans for both print and electronic media. 
• Provide design concepts for Web pages.
• Provide technical illustrations for Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) documentation and products.
• Perform mandatory quality and product assurance checks.
• Maintain proficiency in document publishing and Web systems, processes, and desktop applications to stay current for design products and documentation.
• Create and maintain updated work/training instructions for graphic processes and products.
• Provide consistent communications and follow up with the customer to finalize all tasks.
• Manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
• Provide subject matter expertise in technical design concepts and production/fabrication processes utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat, Canvas and Visio for publications graphics and illustrations.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

• Bachelor's degree with emphasis/major in Art or related creative communications field.  Must have two (2) years of experience in related creative design concept field.

• Bachelor's degree with emphasis/major in Art or related creative communications field.  Must have five (5) years of experience in related creative design concept field.
• Must be a proven design concept artist and provide examples.
• Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canvas, and MS Office (Word/PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Ability to provide fabrication support and development of signs, plaques, and other items for display utilizing fabrication equipment to produce items (saws, large lamination, mounting).
• Skilled with the tools to cut and perform cutting mattes and display boards using a matte cutting machine and art knives.
• Experience and ability to handle and manipulate graphic art objects of up to 20 pounds. 
• Experince being flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.

Preferences:  Knowledge of NASA is a plus.
