The Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance (MMTD) at Lehman
College, City University of New York is conducting a search for a dynamic
faculty member in Music with a specialty in musicology, broadly defined to
include: musicology, music history, popular music, ethnomusicology, and

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate as well as graduate
music courses and developing an innovative and collaborative curriculum
that includes both academic and performance-oriented classes. The
tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor will begin Fall

We are seeking candidates who will contribute to Lehman’s dynamic, growing
Music program within a larger interdisciplinary department with a diverse
student body and a commitment to working with communities. Candidates must
have a terminal degree (PhD, DMA, EdD) with an emphasis in musicology,
broadly defined to include specialties including: musicology, music
history, popular music, ethnomusicology, and related fields. Candidates
must also have an active record of research and scholarship, a commitment
to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, an
ability to teach a broad range of subjects (e.g., performance practice,
multimedia technology, and interdisciplinary approaches to the arts) and
develop innovative curriculum is preferred.
