THE CENTER FOR BEETHOVEN RESEARCH AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES A SYMPOSIUM ON BEETHOVEN’S PIANOS, THEIR MECHANISMS, THEIR SOUND, AND PLAYING TECHNIQUES, AS THEY RELATE TO PERFORMING HIS PIANO SONATAS

WHEN: Monday, November 8
SESSION 1: 3-6 pm
SESSION 2: 8-10 pm
WHERE: The Concert Hall, School of Music, Boston University, 855 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston MA, 02215.

PARTICIPANTS will include scholars, performers, instrument makers, curators of instrument collections, and historical instrument experts. We shall have a menagerie of instruments to demonstrate and discuss! The afternoon session will encompass the instruments themselves, their mechanisms, construction, tuning, etc. And the evening session will be devoted to lecture-demonstrations and performances of Beethoven works for keyboard.
